THE DEVELOPMENT

Old Stables Courtyard 2.HEIC

ABOUT THE STABLES

The Old Stables were once part of Moreton House, a well-regarded grade II listed country house and former large estate near Bideford, North Devon, England. The estate is said anciently to have been the property of the famous Grenville family, lords of the Manor of Bideford, and of Stowe, Kilkhampton in Cornwall. It was later acquired by the Buck merchant family of Bideford, which rebuilt the house in 1760 and again in 1821 until it was commandeered for use as a school during the second world war.

Shortly after the war, Moreton and the surrounding estate became home to Grenville College boarding school and remained so for more than half a century. But when the school moved on and merged with Kingsley school in 2009, the property was divided up and sold.

Morton House and five acres of the original grounds are now being run for boutique weddings and private parties, events, and workshops.

Now the original stunning 9,000 sqft courtyard-style Georgian stable block located at the end of the original tree-lined driveway is undergoing redevelopment to convert into a high-end business park. The Park will consist of 10 units all supported by their own kitchen and disabled toilets. There will also be the addition of a free-to-use boardroom room and parking. All units face onto a stunning courtyard with seating areas.

The offices are available now and are all registered under A2 planning consent for office use.
